Dear Director (BTF USA), We Myanmar (mostly ) are Buddhists, so we are not torturers , we Myanmar don’t like to torture to other . We do believe our Buddha’s taught that be patient and be calm. And also our President is doing patiently , kindly and calmly. He always looking at and thinking of his people of Myanmar. Regarding with this U Ye Htut (Minister of Information) said , “Our position is very clear. First, we have to start a verification process to determine the status of these people. If they are coming from Myanmar and they have enough evidence to prove that, Myanmar [is] ready to bring them home.” Actually, the country’s estimated 1.2 million self-described Rohingya do not enjoy citizenship and remain subject to severe discrimination. Tens of thousands are believed to have left Burma by boat to seek work or asylum in neighboring countries such as Malaysia. The exodus escalated in recent years, exploding this month into a regional refugee crisis as thousands of people were found to have been abandoned at sea by human traffickers. The minister said. “Traffickers brought these people to Thailand and Indonesia. This is just a case of human trafficking. As we are a member with other [Asean] countries and the international community, we will work together to solve this problem.” Many of the so-called “boat people” were found to be Rohingya Muslims who left Buddhist- majority Burma to seek asylum in Malaysia. The Rohingya, with a population of about 1.2 million, are denied citizenship and remain subject to discriminatory policies in Myanmar. The government of Myanmar does not recognize the term Rohingya, referring to the group instead as Bengali, implying that they are illegal immigrants from neighboring Bangladesh. “[Burma] stands ready to provide humanitarian assistance to anyone who suffered in the sea,” the statement said, adding that preventive measures were being taken to prevent human smuggling and illegal migration. And also U Zaw Htay (called Hmu Zaw ) told The Irrawaddy that the government is restricting movement along the coast of Arakan State in efforts to prevent more departures. “We let our navy forces watch the area closely and rescue the migrants if they are found crossing the sea, and we are restricting migrants from traveling by boats in the meantime.” So, please change your mind and withdraw your ” issue of a summons for our President and several ministers of Myanmar to respond to allegations of human rights violations committed against the stateless Rohingya Muslim minority.
